The Client: O2 provide integrated mobile, fixed and broadband services in the UK, Ireland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. As part of Telefónica they have 48.6 million mobile, fixed and broadband customers across Europe and 29,000 employees across the Group.
Process: In mid 2007 O2 had three preferred suppliers servicing their Business Intelligence recruitment. Difficulties arose however when these suppliers were unable to provide senior candidates to lead and deliver the main areas of the programme. ICS had developed an excellent reputation for delivery over the previous months and were approached to recruit 7 business critical roles. Following an extensive initial search of our candidate network, filtered CV’s were submitted for review at a ratio of 3:1. Due to our experience within the sector we were able to source, select and fill the first position within the first week. The most senior role - Business Intelligence Programme Manager - had been open for two months before ICS were given the opportunity.
Conclusion: Many candidates had been interviewed and rejected leading to significant time lost to recruitment processes. Of the five CV’s ICS submitted for this role, four were taken forward to interview, one subsequently offered. A total team of nine contractors are now in the Business Intelligence area of O2, seven of thosework through Investigo Change Solutions. Due to our success in this area we have since placed a total of 22 contract Project and Programme Managers in a seven month period, with a 90%+ success rate of roles to placements. O2 needed to ramp up quickly and source quality people that not only had Project Management expertise but also a raft of Business Intelligence experience.
