We made it!
After seven days of walking, on Saturday 21st February at 7:15am myself and twenty two fellow trekkers hit the summit of Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet up), all in support of the Halcyon Training Foundation. Only one trekker didn’t quite make it to the summit which is an exceptionally high success rate and a great achievement for all involved.
As a group, the money raised has gone to help continue valuable services run by Halcyon in their local area, with the majority of the pot going towards the coaching of two female trainers, both of whom have autism. Given the challenges and patience that this training requires, the funding has allowed for a two year programme to bring them up to speed. This will create career opportunities for these two women and is also an investment in future support services for families affected by autism in the region.
I would personally like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated. Mark and I have jointly managed to raise £5,181 after gift aid so far through this trek.
As Investigo’s chosen charity partner for 2015, Halcyon Training Foundation receives the full support of our employees across our five UK offices with a number of rewarding fundraising activities planned throughout this year. Please support autism awareness, training and support services by donating to Investigo’s fundraising page for Halcyon.
