How do you know if it’s the right time to leave your job? You won’t love your job all the time, lets face it, no one can, but as long as you have more good days than bad days, you’re doing alright and it’s probably not time to leave.
But there are a few ways you can identify if its time to move on. Is there due to be a shift in management in the near future? Could you be a candidate for a new role internally? Have you been in the same role for a long period of time with little prospect of progression? If it looks as though everything is staying the same, it’s probably time to start thinking about your options.
It can take between 3-6 months to find a new role and then you will have your notice period on top of that, which may seem like a long time, but it’s never a good idea to quit your job without something to go to. Aside from the financial implications, the old adage is true; it’s much easier to get a job from a job. At the same time, make sure it’s the right role for you.
Weigh up the pros and cons of changing companies. Its not just the job description and salary, you also need to think about bonus structure, additional benefits, company culture, work ethos, overall working environment, opportunities to progress.
