Analyst / Programmer - Insurance - London - £550 per day - 3 Months
ROLE:

  • The role occupant will provide high-quality IT support to the Global Markets business unit and supervise the day to day operation of the various IT systems
  • This role involves providing timely operational reporting and ad hoc management information to the business, often at short notice. New business requirements will need to be captured and the appropriate changes determined in conjunction with the various stakeholders
  • This role also involves diagnosing production and data issues in conjunction with underwriters, claims and operations staff and recommending, testing and implementing solutions
  • The role occupant will need to liaise with external parties including Lloyd's and Xchanging and systems suppliers such as Xuber
  • Part of a team imbedded in the business - helping with day to day operations reporting - looking for someone with the right combination of business and technical skills


CANDIDATE:

  • Day to day supervision of key systems processes such as bureau message processing, report production and the month end close process
  • Diagnosing any production issues (either technical failures or business data problems), determining a course of action and communicating with IT services, Business and external parties as appropriate
  • Working with external suppliers e.g. Xuber and colleagues to diagnose, test and implement fixes to production issues
  • Working with the business to capture new business requirements and then with the team to devise, test and implement the system and business process changes needed
  • Responding to ad-hoc requests for information from underwriters, Internal Audit, compliance etc by delivering high quality timely information
  • Working with other technical teams, for example to diagnose systems issues and assist with the testing of systems that interface. Examples include the PCW, and Workview systems
  • To share knowledge with the other members of the team and to assist with business training by developing training materials and guidance
  • To help ensure that the team remains compliant with audit, system, and compliance controls and ensure that any changes are correctly documented and authorised
  • The need to work closely with people to capture requirements and coordinate activity between business and technical teams


Required Experience:

  • This role requires several years' experience of London Market wholesale insurance and reinsurance business gained in a managing agency or commercial insurance environment
  • Knowledge of the London bureau processes and the core underwriting systems used by (Subscribe and IRIS) would be a key advantage
  • IT experience in the areas of SQL, MS Excel, MS Access and query tools such as Qlikview or Cognos is also essential to diagnose data issues and produce management information
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential give the need to work closely with people to capture requirements and coordinate activity between business and technical teams
  • Education to degree level is desirable as are professional qualifications such as ACII, Lloyd's introductory test, Prince II training etc. However, the key requirement is proven business and technical experience
