Job description

Investigo is delighted to be working exclusively with a leading UK property firm to assist their team in the search for an Assistant Finance Business Partner.

The purpose of this position will be to deliver high quality finance support to the company covering all financial aspects of the company's investment programme including delivery of accurate monthly management accounts.

Day to day duties will involve:

  • Monitor and track actual expenditure to budget for capital schemes.
  • Review capital transactions for validity and accuracy and ensure accounting is in line with the company's capitalisation policy.
  • Post journals for accruals and to correct allocation errors (where applicable).
  • Review zonal capital performance and provide commentary for management reporting.
  • Review and challenge capital expenditure forecasts provided by the Operational teams.
  • Reconcile the Assets under Construction balance sheet account on a monthly basis ensuring accounting is in line with best practice.
  • Reconcile retention accruals on a quarterly basis.
  • Review of Assets Under Construction and work with the Construction team to ensure that all completed projects are capitalised.
  • The role requires that the post holder receive, analyse and interpret financial information in order to identify and highlight key financial risks and areas of concern and propose actions to resolve or mitigate those risks and concerns.
  • To support the Senior Finance Business Partner - Capital in producing regular progress reports to the Management Accounting SSC team and the Head of Construction.
  • To provide advice and guidance to regional Construction Managers with reference to complex financial information supporting capital business cases.
  • Advise colleagues as to whether expenditure is capital or revenue, interpreted within the context of broader organisational policies.
  • The post holder will communicate complex information to groups of senior managers and external stakeholders, advising on financial issues to non-financial managers. The post holder will be able to communicate this in such a way as it is understood clearly by all parties.
  • The post holder will advise budget holders, both capital and revenue, in order to meet standing financial instructions, company financial targets and company financial strategy.

This role would suit a candidate who is keen to begin or has already started financial qualifications (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with some month end / analysis experience.
