Job description

My client a leading FMCG power brand is seeking a Finance Analyst on a Fixed Term Contract to cover a maternity leave. Below is a brief on the role -

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Partnering & Tendering

  • Responsible for ensuring all new and existing business has been robustly and accurately assessed, both financially and commercially
  • Work with Customer brand managers to provide insight and challenge across all tenders. Ensure all tenders are accuracy, viable and commercial appropriate; ensure all decisions have received relevant challenge
  • Ensure wider implications of all tenders and price moves are considered and risk is evaluated (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Approve tenders up to agreed minimum margin to proceed to Exec approval, using judgement to seek support on complex or high risk contracts
  • Manage and develop excel tender models, ensuring format is appropriate for business. Ensure the model is regularly updated to maintain robustness and accuracy
  • Coach and support business partners in systems use and key financial metrics
  • Ad hoc support as required

Financial Control

  • Own and manage trackers of new and existing business. Ensure all new business aligns to pricing and margins of existing business with variances and exceptions explained
  • Monitor and explain commodity movements impacting non-branded business. Ensure appropriate actions are taken to protect Premier's cash margin
  • Provide continuous insight on pricing and costs, ensuring the approved pricing is being charged across the non-branded portfolio and explaining and exceptions to expected costings
  • Conduct full quarterly business review providing appropriate logic for allocation of non-product costing. Present information to Head of Customer Brands and Finance manager along with appropriate recommendations for corrective action
  • Own and manage trial, design and supplier survey costs control (consumer marketing spend). Ensure spend forecast is robust and accurate, work collaboratively with Customer Brand Managers to update and challenge spend on a monthly basis.

Planning & Reporting

  • Own non-branded forecast by reviewing sales forecast and overlay brand commercial acumen on a monthly basis; provide best in class insight to stakeholders on non-branded performance
  • Work with Head of CB and CB Managers to identify areas of concern and take appropriate action
  • Own quarterly forecasting process, budgeting and long term planning for Customer Brand with support from Finance Manager
  • Prepare monthly Non-Branded analysis and reporting to be presented to the Exec
  • Month End and ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
