Job description

A large Government client are seeking a Delivery Manager on an initial 6 month contract, inside IR35.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

  1. Able to identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use. Encourages a mindset of experimentation. Can adapt and re?ect, is resilient and has the ability to see outside of the process.. Able to measure and evaluate outcomes. (DDAT skill: Agile and Lean Practices: level Practitioner)
  2. Able to listen to the needs of the technical and business stakeholders and interpret between them. Able to manage stakeholders' expectations and be ?exible. facilitates difficult discussions within the team or with diverse senior stakeholders (DDAT Skill: Communicating between the technical and non-technical; level Practitioner)
  3. Able to facilitate the delivery ?ow of a team, managing the pace and tempo. Able to actively address internal and external risks, issues and dependencies including where ownership exists outside the team (DDAT Skill Maintaining delivery momentum; level Practitioner)



  1. Able to identify and challenge organisational processes of increasing complexity and those processes that are unnecessarily complicated. Able to add value and can coach the organisation to inspect and adapt processes. Guides teams through the implementation of a new process (DDAT Skill: Making the Process Work; level, expert)
  2. Understands the environment and is able to prioritise the most important or highest value tasks. Able to use data to inform planning. Able to manage complex internal and external dependencies. Able to remove blockers or impediments that a?ect the plan and is able to develop a plan for difficult situations. Ensures teams plan appropriately for their own capacity (DDAT skill: Planning; Level, Practitioner)
  3. Able to bring people together to form a motivated team. Able to empower delivery teams. Able to help create the right environment for a team to work in. Recognises and deals with issues (DDAT skill Team dynamics and collaboration; Level, working
  4. Able to act as the point of contact for contracted suppliers. Understands appropriate internal contacts and processes within a government department. Understands how and when third parties should be brought into DDaT projects.(DDAT skill Commercial management; Level, Working)
  5. Able to balance cost versus value. Able to consider the impact of user needs. Able to report on financial delivery. Able to monitor cost and budget and escalate issues (DDAT skill, Financial management; Level, Working)
  6. Recognises when to move from one stage of a product lifecycle to another. Ensures the team is working towards the appropriate service standards for the relevant phase. Able to manage the delivery products or services at di?erent phases (DDAT skill, Lifecycle perspective; Level, Working)

  1. Formal training in AGILE ways of working; and experience of using these to support the delivery of change
  2. Experience in the identification and management of RISK within an AGILE delivery lifecycle
  3. To have worked with Third Party contractors, acting as a point of contact, and having taken part in procurement exercises
  4. Experience of Budgetary Management
  5. To have experience in coaching other teams members in order to ensure great outcomes, a formal coaching qualification is not essential. but would be favourable.
  6. As a Delivery Manager within the Digital Team you will be expected to delivery change across the breadth of the Strategic Plan.
  7. It is Key that a Delivery Manager is able quickly build e?ective relationships with stakeholders, both inside and outside of the organisation. Our Delivery is fast paced, and we must always be ready to re?ect both internal and external policy developments. Our Delivery Managers need to be able to provide our users with the confidence that we are able to respond to any change, whilst keeping their needs central. Excellent Stakeholder Management skills, and communication skills are essential
  8. The ability to deliver change within a political environment
