Director, US Health Economics and Value


Summary:
The Director, US Health Economics and Value Demonstration will lead value demonstration, health technology assessment (HTA), evidence generation, model development/adaptation strategies within the US Commercial organization. The Director must be an independent self-starter with technical expertise and strategic vision to guide the demonstration of the value of therapies to US stakeholders. The Director works closely with global Health Economics Leads, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Managed Markets field teams and multiple stakeholders within Commercial, Medical Affairs, and other key corporate functions. This position reports to the Senior Director, Market Access Strategy and Payer Policy within North America Commercial Operations.


Responsibilities:

  • Strategically and tactically develops, executes and guides stakeholder preparedness for heath technology assessments and reimbursement negotiations
  • Ensures integration of HEOR evidence in evidence submissions
  • Builds/adapts innovative economic models and develops high quality and timely healthcare economic information (HCEI) communication tools for use with US payers and to inform HTA engagement strategy
  • Supports development of value dossiers
  • Trains and supports US Managed Markets and MSLs on key HEOR data, cost models
  • Partners with Medical Affairs to critically evaluate available literature and generate plan to address evidence gaps for US Market Access internal stakeholders
  • Leads evidence analysis and development underlying outcomes based contracting strategies
  • Establishes and maintains relationships and partnerships with key external experts and influencers to deliver value messages and technical content to ensure patient access
  • Collaborates cross functionally to ensure evidence requirements (clinical, PRO, economic)of US payers are incorporated in clinical development programs
  • Maintain awareness of HEOR landscape trends and apply learnings as appropriate


Required Experience/Skills:

  • 10+ years US pharmaceutical experience with increasing responsibilities
  • 5+ years Health Economics experience required
  • Deep understanding of product development, competitive landscape, US health system, and the evolving HEOR environment for specialty and rare therapies
  • Superior problem-solving skills, including capability of applying previous experience to complex policy issues at both and strategic and analytic levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, and influence are required
  • Demonstrated ability to excel and influence in a matrix environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, competing timelines, and rapidly evolving priorities


Education:

  • Advance degree related to Health Economics and Outcomes Research (MPH, PhD) or Pharmacy degree with Residency/Fellowship in Health Economics preferred


Additional

  • This position is physically located in corporate office in San Francisco, CA, with travel possible at approximately 25%
  • This position has no direct reports
