Investigo Finance are working closely with a SME Manufacturing client circa £12m t/o with exponential growth looking to double turnover within next year, and are supported by a larger European Group.

The Finance Manager role is a technical, professional and outward facing role providing accounting and management support within the business. A visible role across all functions, working with functional heads to understand and manage cost and provide financial guidance on key projects. Key role within areas of business planning and reporting.

As the Finance Manager, you will report into the Financial Controller and will be responsible for ensuring robust financial control, reporting and cash management of a manufacturing and distribution business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage the monthly closing & reporting process within defined timescales.
  • Prepare monthly management information and analysis; P&L, Working Capital, Balance Sheet, CC Reporting, Cost Variances, KPI's.
  • Manage and develop one part qualified accountant
  • Maintain full balance sheet account reconciliations at each month close and ensure appropriate sign off.
  • Analysis and investigation of margin performance across market segments, customers and products. Highlight drivers in margin variances to budget, forecast and prior year.
  • Implement robust financial controls, in line with Group policy, and ensure that legal and compliance policies are adhered to.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax partners in the preparation of statutory accounts and corporation tax & PAYE returns.
  • Maintain strong lines of communication with Group's central finance to ensure that processes align to group reporting and policy requirements wherever applicable.
  • Monitor capital expenditure against budget and maintain management of approval process and recording of invoices.
  • Maintain UK chart of accounts and cost centre structure in line with business requirements
  • Assist the Financial Controller in leading the strategic and annual budget and rolling forecast planning processes providing analysis on key issues and drivers in performance.
  • Maintain high levels of integrity, credibility and quality in the data and information provided within the UK business.
  • Work alongside Financial Controller on ad hoc projects within the UK business focussed on driving improvements in reporting, performance and credibility of information.
  • Continual development of new reporting tools to meet management needs.

Essential Skills:

  • Qualified Accountant ( ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Experience working for an SME
  • Experience of reporting under UK GAAP (FRS 102) is ideal
  • Knowledge of accounting standard costing procedures
  • Knowledge of working with SAGE 50 would be an advantage
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office; specifically Excel and Word
  • An understanding of employee taxable benefits and consolidated accounts would be advantageous.
