Financial Crime Testing AVP - Fintech specialising in Correspondent Banking, International Payments and FX

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of an Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) annual risk-based review plan
  • Providing oversight and assurance of operations and front-line teams by undertaking quality assurance, testing, thematic reviews, validation, and deep dives via data gathering, sampling and analysis to ensure that financial crime policies and procedures are applied correctly
  • Publishing reports with appropriate action plans to risk mitigate any issues found during reviews
  • Undertaking gap analysis of procedures and policies to ensure regulatory requirements are being met and applied across Anti-Money Laundering (AML) & CTF, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) and Anti-Tax Evasion
  • Identifying opportunities through ongoing monitoring work to support the improvement of the CAB financial crime risk and control framework, processes, and procedures
  • Working with colleagues in AFC to deliver an effective financial crime compliance programme and provide SME guidance as required.
  • Support governance processes including presentation of findings and recommendations to Governance forums and Management
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of the AFC QA and Continuous Monitoring programme
  • Identifying areas where systemic failures could occur and undertake thematic reviews in line with industry trends or regulator guidance
  • Providing challenge to stakeholders on the design and effectiveness of financial crime controls through the monitoring programme and supporting stakeholders in determining necessary control remediation
  • Maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across Front Office, Risk and Operations
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the firms' products and activities regulatory reporting obligations by
  • Staying abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends by attending relevant industry forums to proactively consider and assess the impact on our regulatory framework

Requirements:

  • Understanding of financial crime risks and related controls, especially associated with Trade Finance, Correspondent Banking, Transaction Monitoring, Payments and Sanctions
  • Working knowledge of UK regulations and regulatory framework and relevant industry guidance, such as JMLSG
  • Understanding of control design assessment and effectiveness testing techniques and practices
  • Experience planning and executing reviews and undertaking validation of issues
  • Exposure to casement management, Sanctions and Transaction Monitoring Systems
  • Ability to complete reviews and tasks within defined timelines
  • Ability to manage a range of stakeholders, working effectively with front line teams and balancing compliance and commercial objectives
  • Report writing experience with attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
