Client-side, Global Property Programme Manager - London, UK

A globally-recognised NFP organisation is looking to expand its property & estates team by employing a Programme Manager. The business has over 3,000 properties in over 130 countries worldwide where it operates across a variety of commercial sites but predominantly they occupy an office and customer care portfolio.

The Brief

The organisation have recognised a gap in the management of their estates department and so require a programming expert to provide governance, strategy, processes and leadership. This will be focused on outlining the methodology behind the delivery of all estates-related events such as: capital projects, real estate transactions (acquisitions & disposals), managing lease events, facilities vendor management and so on.

The Programme Manager will be responsible for planning, tracking and reporting on Global Property activities to support the delivery of the master programme and ensure the capital projects and transaction management teams operate effectively and efficiently and have all the necessary data available to them. This role will also manage and track budgets, both business as usual budgets and annual investment budgets, assisting the prioritisation and timing of implementation processes having due regard to resourcing. This will involve proactive engagement across Property, its partners and key stakeholders to ensure timely flows of information and reporting, as well as reviewing existing processes to improve Property ways of working.

The Challenge

This role will lead the Programme Management of projects in the global portfolio and help initiate new projects in support of the business strategy. The main opportunities and challenges are;

  • To evolve and deliver excellent processes and reporting that ensure Property operate and deliver efficiently and effectively for the organisation in an increasingly competitive environment.
  • To work across key stakeholders and clients to ensure that Property has a far-sighted pipeline of activities to plan our resourcing and capabilities in order to deliver on time and within budget.
  • To prepare and track key project KPIs in order that Estates can benchmark its activities both internally and externally.
  • Maintain project spend against budget reports reconciling external partner reporting with internal finance systems.
  • Ensure the department budgets are well managed, with accurate forecasting and compliance with corporate finances standards and processes.

Experience & Requirements

  • Full membership of Royal Institution Chartered Surveyors (Building or QS Division); alternatively, Chartered Membership of Association of Project Managers, or equivalent.
  • PRINCE 2 or equivalent project management qualification or professional experience. ▪ Lean 6, Agile or equivalent process design qualification.
  • Understanding of real estate service lines, including transaction management, project management and facilities management.
  • Experience of leading the programme management of a function, demonstrating project prioritisation ▪ Experience of working within a complex global organisation.
  • Experience of managing complex estate budgets and advising colleagues in accordance with financial policy and requirements.
  • Experience developing core business and delivery processes and procedures and demonstrating continuous improvement.
