Job description

The company is run from its London head office but has strong international distribution with sales in 100 markets worldwide. Their Strategic plan is to double their topline in the next 4 years.

Summary of Role Scope:

To lead and develop the Commercial Finance Team to provide first class commercial support and challenge to the business. Through clear and relevant performance reporting, strategic and financial planning, business partnering, and decision support. Effectively being a "right-hand" person to the key stakeholders in delivering the strategic and financial objectives of the business

Key responsibilities will include:

  • To lead and develop a commercial finance team at the heart of business decision making.
  • To provide support and challenge to the leadership team through business partnering.
  • To develop relevant and insightful performance reporting. Highlighting key issues/ opportunities to the Board and key stakeholders.
    • Oversight of all daily, weekly and monthly reporting (Daily sales, monthly NPD Board pack and monthly Board pack)
  • Developing, refining and constantly improving finance information/ ERP systems to underpin effective reporting and planning. And enabling agile analysis. That are appropriate for a scaling business.
    • Develop "self-serve" capabilities that enable people to do their jobs.
  • Lead and improve/ refine the businesses planning cycle
    • Own and develop a planning cycle for a business in growth
    • Management and coordination of Annual budget and re-forecast
  • Management of strategic plan (2 year & 4 year)
    • Management of Cost down tracker with Operations and NPD
    • Ensuring a smooth process that delivers realistic and challenging performance targets
  • Provide analysis and actionable insight on the key drivers of performance
  • Key to commercial activities:
    • Pricing and Price architecture. Including: pricelist update and maintenance including Customer markdown & discount structure
    • Partner Trade marketing to make good business decisions
    • OTB and stock purchase/ inventory: Partner Demand Planning in the business wide S&OP process ensuring accurate budget and latest forecast information
  • Assist the business in the evaluation of new opportunities and business change. And measuring success in the short, medium and long term.
  • Leadership:
    • Managing a FP&A manager and Commercial finance analyst.
    • Develop a team that can meet the demands of a scaling, changing, growth business
    • Building and maintaining effective relationships across the business.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Problem solving positive attitude
  • Qualified accountant
  • Sector experience required (consumer goods with multiple supply routes)
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Experience managing a small to medium sized high performing finance team
  • Credible communicator
  • At least 4-6 years' PQE in a commercial role managing end to end budgeting and reporting processes
  • Experience within a growth environment
  • Highly driven individual with a hands-on, team-player approach
