Job description

I'm partnering with this FTSE Retail to assist in the hire of an Interim Head of Commercial Finance for a period of 3-6 Months.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Partnering

Provides a true Business Partner framework with the Chief Operating Officer ensuring that they are supported with the right insight and information at all times. This role is a sounding board, counsel and confidant for the Chief Operating Officer.

Provides financial leadership to the Chief Operating Officer

  • Budget setting.
  • Monthly reporting and analysis.
  • Re-forecasting.
  • Business case evaluation.
  • Strategic planning.
  • Deep dive analysis into cost areas.
  • Ad-hoc projects.

Operations Accounting and Control

  • Has accountability for all control, accounting and reporting activities of the operational cost centres. The team will upon expertise from the technical teams where needed.
  • Leads the completion of the month end close and actuals reporting for all operational cost centres including timely reporting to central teams.
  • Ownership of the financial accuracy of the P&L and Balance Sheet (including balance sheet reconciliations and accounting judgements) in areas of responsibility.
  • Ownership of all internal and external audit conversations and resulting actions required.

Strategic Cost programme

Working alongside the Director of FP&A and CFO ,to drive the cost programme. Driving a combination of sustainable and cost saving initiatives. This will include:

  • Cost programme reporting and reporting to the Board
  • Monthly cost reviews across whole cost base, including deep dives recommending areas that require focus
  • Strategic planning to support maintaining a competitive cost position

Transformational Leadership

  • Subject matter expert to Ops leadership team regarding the use of financial insight and analysis to drive business performance and delivery.
  • Understands the business's strategic and operating plans and develop approaches to support objective decision-making across all aspects of business performance.
  • Collaborates with senior management and business teams to develop and implement relevant metrics and other measurements to assist in improving business results.

Strategic & Performance Orientation

  • Develops and delivers presentations to senior executives regarding business performance and metrics that impact business outcomes.
  • Supports with internal and external guidance for quarterly results, capital markets days and explaining the cost story
