Role Description
The Instructional Designer will be responsible for scripting content into template instructional design storyboards for a number of online and blended course development projects. The post-holder will work closely with the Lead and Senior Instructional Designers who will initiate the Storyboard template for each project. The Instructional Designer will be responsible for ensuring that content received from institutional academics is mapped and scripted into the storyboard and that the content is reviewed for accuracy and consistency, before being handed over to the Content Production team for copy editing and subsequently production. You will ensure on time delivery of content to the Lead and Senior Instructional Designers per the project schedule. You will also carry out online reviews during the production phase to ensure that the storyboards have been accurately translated into the live environment.

Additional Job Details / Key Accountabilities

  • Using raw content provided by an academic, prepare, transform and script content into storyboards and asset templates
  • Review scripted content for consistency, accuracy and quality both in the storyboard and in the learning environment.
  • Ensure that the content meets the desired learning objectives for the course and that it is aligned with sound pedagogical best practices.
  • Transform content from its raw format into a range of set learning assets, using third party authoring tool templates
  • Work to a schedule to manage own time to ensure all content is scripted within designated time.
  • Effective communication of project status to Lead and Senior Instructional Designer as appropriate
  • Work on ad-hoc projects as they arise within the department.

Minimum Required Skills / Key Competencies
* Conceptualise and storyboard instructionally sound, interactive and engaging content that promotes active learning
* Be familiar with a range of authoring tools and templates
* Ability to write and transform content for adult learners in an online environment to structured style guides.
* Work independently, managing own time, prioritising effectively and making decisions confidently, quickly and thoughtfully
* Excellent organisational, time management, prioritisation and planning skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to provide timely and appropriate communication to both internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to use own initiative and develop good working relationships
* Team player
* Enthusiastic and efficient with a proactive attitude
* Excellent attention to detail
* Able and used to working to a high standard of accuracy under pressure
