I am recruiting for a Management Accountant to join a growing but well known Restaurant Franchise in London. The role requires someone with substantial experience in putting together a full set of management accounts, a quick learner and someone commercially minded.

The role

Reporting to the financial controller this role the role requires a high degree of accuracy and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. There is one direct report to the role (Accounts payable) that will require support and development and monitoring, however there will be significant collaboration with the Systems Accountant and Treasury team member and this role is expected to help develop the Treasury individual and assist where required.

Given the current growth plans of my client, this role will become ever more intrinsic to the success of the group ensuring accurate and timely accounts are prepared allowing for management to make informed decisions.

The management accountant will be required to demonstrate technical accounting knowledge in preparing monthly management accounts and month end reconciliations within the deadlines.

Key responsibilities:

  • Management of one direct reports (Accounts payable)
  • Ownership of the monthly management accounts, including meeting all deadlines and ensuring accuracy is maintained.
  • Ownership of all month end balance sheet reconciliations, including timely deliverance and maintenance of overs and under schedule.
  • Additional analysis surrounding the management accounts, including but not limited to analysis of new site pre-opening expense, Marketing, Repairs and IT spend to be maintained and updated on regular basis to provide reliable information to management to make informed decisions from.
  • Weekly reviews of day-book postings ensuring accuracy
  • Posting of all payroll journals and reconciliations
  • Review of weekly and month end payment runs
  • Management of all utilities expenses and accruals ensuring billing is up to date.

Other adhoc responsibilities:

  • Supporting the FC during the year-end audit process.
  • Any additional Ad Hoc project work
  • Take an active role in suggesting improvements to current processes and systems where accuracy and efficiency can be improved helping the department become the best in class.
  • Supporting the finance analyst and systems accountant when required.
  • Support departments outside of the finance team when required in financial analysis.

Essential:

  • Proven ability to work in multisite hospitality (retail will be considered) organisations
  • Excel proficient
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in fast paced / growth organisations
  • Previously worked in a small head office environment (20 people or less)
  • Ability to constructively challenge the way things are done and not just accept things as they are because they have always been done that way
