Newly Qualified Accountant - Finance Manager - Retail Bank - London - Salary between £50k - £55k plus bonus - Hybrid working

A highly successful and growing Bank, with a retail banking offering to business customers, is currently hiring for a newly qualified accountant in a Finance Manager position. Covering a broad range of core finance responsibilities, this team covers business performance reporting, regulatory reporting, budgeting, forecasting as well as stat accounts and transactional activity.

With strong processes and controls in place, the team are technology-led and focused on providing the most accurate and reliable MI and financial info possible to the wider business.

Overall, the Bank is performing very well financially, and with an intelligent approach to risk management and sustainable growth, have built a very strong platform for expansion over the next few years.

As Finance Manager, you will cover areas across month-end management accounts, annual reporting, Tax and VAT as well as involvement in FP&A, Projects and other ad-hoc work.

This would be a great role for someone who has recently qualified, looking for a step up and a platform that will give them the tools to build into a Financial Controller / Finance Director in the future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Month end accounting, production of management accounts and MI
  • Board reporting and consolidated statutory accounts, annual reporting and Pillar III reporting.
  • Support in accounting policy work and technical analysis (FRS 102)
  • Financial oversight and controls, maintaining a robust financial control framework and ensuring all accounts and entries are reconciled.
  • Support the FP&A team with budgeting, forecasting and analysis.
  • Oversee the bank recs process and purchase ledger.
  • Support external parties with annual audit responsibilities.
  • Lead on the on-boarding process of new auditors and support them with data and MI
  • Preparation of several returns including VAT, annual tax computations, CBILS and RLS and some regulatory work.
  • Drive automation and improvement in existing financial processes at all times.

You will be an ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified accountant, coming from either an industry trained background or straight from an Audit firm and looking to step into industry. If coming from audit, it would be useful to have had some exposure to Financial Services clients, whether that be in Banking, Capital Markets, Asset Management, Insurance etc.

Key to this role will be an understanding of month end routines and knowledge of the accounting requirements of a highly regulated FS environment. Controls, reporting and systems work will all be closely intertwined with this position.

Additional skills including data visualisation, whilst not essential, would be a bonus. So any knowledge of tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlikview etc would be great. Also MS Access or SQL experience would also be a bonus.
