Product Owner / Architect

Overview of the role

As the Product Owner for Finance Reporting and Analytics you will develop and communicate the data and reporting product's vision to be fulfilled by your agile team. You are the team's key stakeholder who serves as proxy for the customer - both internal and external. You will represent the voice of stakeholders by defining, prioritizing and maintaining a product backlog to ensure that development teams are working on stories that maximize business value and meet defined success criteria. The ideal candidate will be one with prior experience as a product owner, who is able to build strong relationships with Distribution and Accounting stakeholders, can communicate clear and actionable requirements, has a solid financial services background, and demonstrates true passion for the role.

Duties and responsibilities

You will:

  • Act as the Product Owner for the 'Finance Reporting & Analytics' agile software development teams across the globe
  • Work with stakeholders in Finance, Tax, HR and Procurement to gather reporting and data requirements to build features and a data and reporting roadmap
  • Plan, prioritize, and maintain a healthy product backlog of features that provide insights & controls to Finance, Tax, HR & Risk/Compliance while delivering key results which are aligned to both the growth, risk and efficiency pillars of the company strategy of simple excellence.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into clear features and user stories/value increments for agile teams to implement
  • Manage the development and support teams across the landscape SAP BW, Business Objects, Snowflake and Power BI
  • Work with Teams across IT Core Data Platform, Business Intelligence, and Information Security to build out the Finance Snowflake Data Warehouse
  • Facilitate backlog refinement and sprint planning in partnership with RTE, key vendors and business stakeholders
  • Communicate with stakeholders in Finance, Tax, HR and Procurement so they understand when key features will be available
  • Support the roll out and adoption of Power BI across Finance, Tax, HR and Procurement migrating existing reports to dashboards and creating SMEs in the Business
  • Participate in the scrum ceremonies, evaluate project/product progress, and communicate status & risks appropriately
  • Collaborate with teams: RTR, Tax, HR, OTC, PTP, GRC, Financial planning & platform to develop and implement training and communications that allow stakeholders to better understand the products and associated changes.
  • Work closely with the finance release train engineer and other product owners in Finance, Data lake, Tax, GRC & HR and other domains (Distribution, Operations, Corporate, Legal) in the quarterly PI planning & prioritization process.
  • Work closely with Vendor management office to align service providers(vendors) on key service criteria: incident & service mgmt/improvement, scheduled maintenance and on time execution, information, security and user access mgmt., service continuity and timely availability communication
  • Work closely with infrastructure, infosec, identity and access mgmt. to manage elements of IT risk mgmt: Operational risk, information risk, third party risk, service continuity and audit coordination.
  • Provide good overall management (availability, performance, user experience) of the service delivered both by inhouse and external Service Providers. Monitor time to respond and resolve across incidents and service requests.

Supervisory responsibilities

  • Management of internal and external Power BI and SAP BW developers

Technical skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required
  • ScrumMaster certification strongly preferred
  • Thorough understanding of how to interpret business and technical needs and translate them into themes, epics and user stories
  • Experience of Data Architecture and building cloud based Data Lakes and Warehouses
  • Experience in SAP platform and underlying component solutions strongly preferred
  • Experience with SAP BW, Power BI and Snowflake/Data-bricks integration is key.
