The Role - Strategy & Competition
Our Financial Services regulating client are currently recruiting for a Senior Associate in the Data Advisory Team, primarily supporting the Information Centre. The Data Advisory Team's role is to provide knowledge and expertise on business-critical datasets, to enable data users to unlock data possibilities and make better business decisions.
The Information Centre, part of the Data Advisory Team, is responsible for acquiring and maintaining the commercial data and information sources available to the organisation, and for helping staff to make the most of these sources. These sources cover the types of third party data and information which enable staff across the business to do their jobs effectively: market data services, company data and information, news databases, legal sources, and consumer and academic research sources.


The role holder's responsibilities will include:

  • Contract management of key commercial market data services and sources
  • Engaging effectively with external stakeholders and product vendors, using negotiation and communication skills to drive best value for money and meet business requirements
  • Where required, working with Procurement Department to run tender exercises for data and information sources, and engaging Procurement department on all high-value renewals and acquisitions
  • Managing engagement with internal stakeholders to build an understanding of their requirements to aid procurement of appropriate sources and ensuring they are exploiting existing data sources
  • Shared responsibility for the Information Centre budget, tracking spend throughout the year, ensuring budget remains within limit and cost efficiencies are achieved
  • Carrying out intelligence gathering and research activities and managing these in response to queries from staff
  • Delivering presentations, products and training to support the client in the use of data sources
  • Promoting and publicising Information Centre, Data Advisory Team, and CDS services, specifically focusing on data and information sources
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues
  • Supporting and delivering projects and initiatives to improve usability, functionality or efficiency of data sources and services provided

Skills/Experience Required
Minimum

  • Proven contract and budget management experience
  • Proven stakeholder management skills at all levels
  • Proven analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to quickly analyse and interpret a variety of data to generate positive outcomes

Essential

  • Experience of working with procurement specialists to deliver large-scale tenders and other procurement exercises from requirements gathering through to implementation
  • Working experience of utilising market data, commercial, legal, and other information sources for research purposes, for example Bloomberg, Refinitiv (Eikon, ThomsonOne), Bureau van Dijk, Westlaw, and LexisLibrary
  • Ability to present advice and recommendations in a clear and succinct manner that are tailored for the relevant audience, ensuring that communications are fit for purpose
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in conducting presentations and concise report writing
  • The ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders (including relationship management), both internal and external to the client
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to staff at all levels both within and outside the client
  • Experience of data and information management and dissemination for internal stakeholders
  • Ability to balance, prioritise and manage competing demands; a "can-do" attitude and the ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines

Desirable

  • Professional data or information management qualification (e.g. CILIP, EDM Council) or significant experience of working within data and information provision, to include libraries, information centres or research services
  • Experience mentoring and coaching less experienced colleagues
