Senior Finance Manager - Retail
up to £75k
Hybrid Working

I am recruiting for a Senior Finance Manager to join an established International Retail firm in London. Ideally you will come from within the Retail sector and have multi-site experience. You will be providing financial insight and challenge to the Retail team to enable them to make business decisions that drive growth.

Through your team of 5, you will play a key role in challenging the achievement of financial results, periodic reporting and in maintaining financial controls.

Business Partnering and Reporting

  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly management information with commentary that demonstrates comprehensive understanding of cost drivers and variance analysis to budget and prior year.
  • Hold review meetings with key stakeholders to feedback actionable insight into the result.
  • Identify drivers of overspend and support and challenge the Retail team to ensure delivery and control of their budget.
  • Proactive continuous evolution of month end reporting and analysis to better communicate financial performance to key stakeholders.
  • Support and guide the Retail team through the budget process, liaising closely with the Commercial Finance team to provide key inputs to their model.
  • Develop and mature close working relationships with a range of Commercial stakeholders so that finance input is sought as a matter of course.
  • Through your review, ensure your team delivers accurate and complete financial accounting in line with the month-end timetable.

Financial Control

  • Ensure balance sheet controls are in place, accounts are reconciled to agreed deadlines with risks and opportunities known and shared as part of a 'no surprises' culture.
  • Support the development of a robust control environment by continuously identifying opportunities to improve financial systems and processes and by implementing these changes.

People

  • Day to day management of a team of 5 qualified and training accountants.
  • Ensure the learning and development needs of the team are met by setting objectives, coaching and providing constructive feedback through regular one-to-ones.
  • Manage team workload, identify future resourcing requirements, and support the recruitment process.

Other

  • Support the implementation of a New Finance system (Netsuite)
  • Involvement in the year-end process, preparation of deliverables for the audit and key contact for the auditors during the audit process.
  • Ongoing non-business as usual project work within the finance team as and when required.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with 5+ year PQE working in a large company.
  • Retail experience essential.
  • Resilient and able to thrive in a faced-paced environment, juggling competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to drive improvements in a high growth business
