THE COMPANY

Major worldwide player in the housewares market, specialising in the design and manufacture of contemporary homeware products. The Company was established in 2003 and the owners have rapidly grown the business to become one of the major internationally recognised consumer brands in this sector. They also have picked up numerous design and entrepreneurship awards along the way.

The company focuses at the mid to top end of the market promoting its own range of branded product. It has a reputation for delivering high quality, design-led innovative products which it sells to its global customer base.

The company is run from its London head office but has strong international distribution with sales in 100 markets worldwide. It has been recognised by the Sunday Times as one of the top 100 fastest growing companies in the UK and has won many design awards for its innovative products.

The Company's strategic plan is to grow the business 30% in the next 4 years.

THE ROLE

Due to the Group's continued growth, a new role has been created within the accounting team. This is a hands-on management accounting role with a broad remit, including:

  • Responsible for the management accounting in the group, working to ensure month end is delivered on time and to a high standard.
  • Responsible for the accurate preparation of the group and individual subsidiary balance sheets and income statements, ensuring ledgers are maintained to a high standard.
  • Review of work performed by assistant management accountants, ensuring the work is accurate and well documented.
  • Responsible for all group consolidation adjustments.
  • Review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring they are completed on a timely basis and following up on any differences. Preparing balance sheet reconciliations for certain key accounts.
  • Lead the production of the group statutory accounts and individual subsidiary accounts.
  • Consistently working to improve processes across the group and drive efficiencies.
  • Ownership of several key financial projects.
  • Driving process improvements within the accounting function.
  • Working with key professional service providers to submit VAT and tax returns.
  • Other ad-hoc work as required.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Qualified accountant (0-2 years PQE, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Experience in management accounting.
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Experience in communicating with multiple stakeholders.
  • Methodical approach to tasks who demonstrates a calm demeanour under pressure.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, constantly challenging and verifying information, able to deal with complex issues.
  • Highly driven individual with a hands-on deck mentality, consistently seeking to drive process improvement.
  • Ability to take ownership of a project and see it through to completion.
