Job description

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this position is part of a team responsible for processing our client's payrolls, accurately and on time. You will undertake all elements of payroll, from inputting data, HMRC and Pensions submissions and notifications, payroll reconciliation and BACS processing. In addidtion you will be supporting the Payroll Manager and provide payroll related advice, guidance and support to all employees and Managers.

You will also deputise for the Payroll Manager, as and when required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Administration and processing of payrolls, in accordance with operating procedures and deadlines, ensuring that payrolls are processed efficiently, accurately and on time.
* Ensure starters and leavers are processed correctly and in a timely manner.
* Validate all payroll data, ensuring interfaces to the general ledger, are reconciled.
* Timely and accurate application of input from HMRC.
* Monthly and annual submissions and payments to HMRC, including P11D's, PSA.
* Application, processing, and remittance of Attachment of Earnings orders.
* Processing pension deductions and refunds, reconciling, reporting, and paying over deductions to pension providers.
* Returns and updates to external third-party providers e.g., Reward Gateway, Wagestream and Medicash.
* Respond to internal and external queries in a timely manner.
* Engage and communicate with internal stakeholders, providing updates and support.
* Provide cover for the Payroll Manager as required.
* Assist in the review and development of payroll processes, procedures, and systems.
* Maintain confidentiality, ensuring full compliance with GDPR.

Skills and Experience:
* A minimum of 3 years recent experience working as a payroll professional within a busy and effective payroll department.
* Working knowledge of RTI and associated HMRC submissions.
* Excellent systems experience including Excel to advanced level i.e., use of VLOOKUP
* Extensive experience of legislation, operation, and calculation of SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP, CSA, and Court Orders.
* Up to date knowledge of employment law in relation to National Living Wage.
* Experience in Auto Enrolment, processing pension deductions and dealing with pension providers.
* Possess a basic knowledge of benefits and tax implications.
