Job description

This is an opportunity to join a leading UK Consultancy, working alongside the Ministry of Justice on a crucial framework. This role will be to deliver capital refurbishments and upgrades across the MoJ's estate including prisons and courts

You will be expected to provide project management services across all stages to deliver the project against cost, time and quality requirements.

This position will suit those looking to further their careers with a major project or programme role. This programme is being used as a catalyst for some industry-wide innovations and would suit candidates interested in supporting and championing innovation.

This is a client-facing role, responsible for working together with team members, developing the clients' strategy, through to assisting in the appointment of the extended professional team of local consultants and contractors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and managing effective communication and liaison with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure that requirements are identified, assessed and appropriately integrated into the project.
  • Working with the client and reporting to the project lead responsible for helping to establish the strategy and delivery for the project.
  • Supervising in developing the client's brief, delivery strategy and supervising the scheme's design management, procurement, and execution.
  • Working with a dynamic team that strives for quality, safety, cost and schedule improvements at every opportunity with all delivery partners, challenging and seeking to improve the project deliverables.
  • Coordinating, planning and managing internal and external meetings about the project.
  • Driving the procurement of services and works required to deliver the project.
  • Understanding of budgets, estimates and ability to review and challenge contractors' proposals.
  • Understanding the design process throughout all stages of the project life cycle and managing technical aspects as they arise.
  • Managing pre-contract design development and post-contract scope changes in an efficient manner.
  • Producing strategic project programmes and have the ability to scrutinise and integrate programmes from consultants and contractors.
  • Understanding risk management and working with project teams to identify, schedule, and establish mitigation strategies for project risks.

Required experience / qualifications

  • An experienced Project Manager who has worked on refurbishment projects within a consultancy environment
  • The successful candidate will have a degree qualification in a relevant discipline and a member of a professional body institute such as RICS, CIOB or APM.
  • You will have experience in contract administration and using various forms of contract, in particular, NEC will be preferable.
  • Experience of working with the Ministry of Justice or public sector clients would be preferable.
