Job description
This role will support the financial controller, managing a team of roughly 5 transactional finance professionals. The ideal candidate will be used to a smaller, high growth, fast paced business and will be able to walk into this role and get up to speed with minimal hand-holding.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 5 AP Assistants
- Provide training, develop team, manage objective-setting, and carry out annual appraisals in line with HR process
- Manage the Purchase Order system administration and configuration
- Lead on AP element new finance system implementation
- Review current purchase to pay process for efficiencies and transformation opportunities to keep up with rapid growth
- Produce policies and procedure manuals
- Maintain approval matrix for multiple departments and sub-departments across the business
- Train non-finance staff in use of PO system
- Ensure and report on business compliance with Finance process
- Review and approval of invoices, payment runs, including quarterly rent and service charge
- Submission of regular payment runs for 10+ entities
- Review and ownership of GL and department coding accuracy, updating coding guidance and training the team/business as required
- Adapting processes to keep up with rapid growth
- New supplier sign off and onboarding
- Supplier ledger management
- Produce high quality weekly cost and cash outflow analysis for senior finance team
- Review and provide commentary on monthly costs versus budget in line with month end timeline
Experience
- Proven prior experience in implementation of new finance system
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of responsibilities, prioritise and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Technical excellence.
- Ability to communicate with finance and partner with other departments across the business.
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills.
- Ability to motivate junior members of team.
- Able to produce clearly laid out, considered work papers / reports.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel abilities, including graphs
- Experience working in a similar role
- Multi-site experience
- Experience of interacting with senior non finance personnel.
- Proven track record of suggesting / implementing improvements to financial processes.
- At least 2 years experience managing transactional processes and reporting for a similar size organisation
- Strong commercial awareness and good understanding of the sector and current financial environment.
