Workday Advance Compensation

This role co-ordinates all the business input in order to agree and configure global requirements within the Advanced Compensation module of Workday. It is responsible for co-ordinating decision-making across the Reward Team and the HR community with regards to compensation-related processes and reporting requirements. It requires a good understanding of the businesses and an ability to quickly pick up knowledge (including local legislative requirements) of global reward processes and reporting requirements.

This role works with the Group HR Operations Director and Reward Team and local business representatives to translate local requirements into global compensation and reporting processes and deliver through the technical solution.

Role and responsibilities

Workday Configuration Activities

  • Facilitate the collection of all compensation requirements to be configured to help fully adopt the global design and capture local legal and regulatory variations.
  • Understand local compensation requirements and configure them within Workday Advance Compensation module.
  • Own the delivery of the global Advance Compensation configuration.
  • Work with the global HR community to support the maintenance of compensation processes globally to ensure they remain valid and legally compliant.
  • Ensure an engaging and practical end user experience while configuring compensation processes and reporting.
  • Ensure that compensation configuration adheres to the global design versus local requirements principle and reflects improved ways of working.
  • Document end to end business processes within the compensation space, describing off system and on system steps.
  • Maintain and develop appropriate training materials.
  • Support the QA team with the definition of meaningful scenarios and execution of test scripts where required.
  • Respond to technical issues within the Advanced Compensation and reporting space in a timely and constructive way, providing advice and guidance for speedy resolution.
  • Create opportunities to identify process improvements within Workday. Plan, implement and measure their effectiveness. Support the HR community with constant review and analysis of working practices to help improve the service and efficiency within the teams, sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Support annual compensation requirements and regular reviews of reporting requirements.
  • Monitor and analyse enquiry volumes and types in the Advanced Compensation and Reporting space to identify patterns and support teams in efficiently addressing them.
  • Proactively work with other members of the Workday Configuration Team to develop the reporting of management information on the usage of Workday, presenting this through regular engagement opportunities with the members of the HR community.
  • Proactively work with the Group HR Data Lead to identify and close gaps in reporting requirements.
  • Utilize Workday Community and other professional networks to proactively research possible improvements and represent in Workday Community.

Stakeholder Management and Team Dynamics

  • Lead and develop relationships with colleagues in the Reward Team, Workday Configuration Team and HR community and other business stakeholders demonstrating proactive sharing of information and opportunities to further improve service.
  • Liaise with the Reward Team and HR community and other stakeholders to identify and scope new technological developments and process improvements to support the overall strategic objective.

Support and Development

  • Support HR colleagues to increase their knowledge, skill and competence of the Advanced Compensation module. Facilitate detailed monitoring and checking of understanding agreeing interventions as appropriate.
  • Work with other members of the Workday Configuration Team to optimise resource levels across the team, ensuring sharing of knowledge and resource planning.
  • Support and be a part of pro-activity and creativity in the team to deliver above expected levels of service and to be receptive to change.

Project Activities

  • Plan the future developments of services, influence opportunities and deliver changes within Advanced Compensation area of Workday (both roadmap and Workday releases).
  • Proactively lead on solving problems as they arise throughout the duration of the above developments.
  • Effectively communicate across all levels of the HR community and other stakeholders to ensure everyone is kept update with progress.

To be an effective Global Workday Configuration Lead:

  • Expert knowledge of compensation processes globally and Advanced Compensation functionality in Workday.
  • Working knowledge of Reporting functionality in Workday.
  • Understanding processes - understanding process end-to-end to enable improvements supported by technology.
  • Knowing your stakeholders - ability to run workshops, training sessions etc., and create clear documentation.
  • Understanding the business model at depth - getting to know and understand how the business operates, how it creates value, its strategic drivers and its purpose.
  • Understand and adopt the HR Operating Model - promoting, sharing and role modelling global HR ways of working. Looking for continuous improvement and simplification opportunities, to drive greater efficiencies and business benefits.
  • Generating insight from data and evidence - monitoring levels of the service provided and incorporate feedback to drive continuous HR operational process improvement.
  • Connecting with curiosity, purpose and impact - building relationships within the HR community to identify and proactively manage areas of maximum impact. Supporting the HR community and the HR Operations Team to enable these to deliver to their full capacity.
