Group Financial Controller
Luxury Retailer
London
Hybrid 3 days pw offcie / 2 wfh
£80,000 - £85,000
Purpose:
To oversee all accounting functions in the business. Ensuring all accounting records are appropriately kept and that every reported result complies with accounting standards and legislation. Coordinating and managing the preparation of budget and financial forecasts, preparing monthly statements and other regular financial reports. Ensuring the team operates with a robust control environment, meeting deadlines and being the go-to contact for external auditors.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing all day-to-day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
  • Coordinating the preparation of budget and financial forecasting and reporting any variances, including Presenting financial results and KPIs at weekly meetings
  • Preparing and submitting to FD all monthly financial statements noting reasons for variances
  • Preparation and submission of Group VAT returns and Irish VAT returns
  • Creating reports (annual and monthly) which identifies results and forecasts
  • Ensuring all transactions are recorded, filed, and reported accurately
  • Making sure reporting meets compliant standards with statutory law and financial regulations
  • Documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls
  • Streamlining and improving all operations and accounting systems
  • Coordinating the management of cash flow
  • Supervising and managing 6 financial department staff, including performance reviews and promotions
  • Overseeing the audit process and liaising with external personnel where required
  • Support the business with the financial strategy and decision-making processes
  • Helping the FD in presenting reports to board members, senior executives, and shareholders
  • Reviewing and modernising financial systems and controls with a key focus on increasing the efficiency of the financial processes

About You:

  • Qualified accountant(ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or qualified by experience
  • Experience of working in a Retail organisation - Desirable
  • Experience of working in a medium or large company with modern reporting and data management processes
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Ability to manage out workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop positive relationships
  • Accurate with a high level of attention to detail
  • A confident communicator
