Unlocking the Power of LGBTQ+ Recruiters

​Last week, Investigo’s Pride committee where proud to take part in a @CampaignLGBTQ+ virtual event. Campaign, founded by Derek Mackenzie, Investigo’s CEO for UK & Europe, is the UK’s first peer-to-peer LGBTQ business network for the recruitment industry, open to recruitment and talent professionals from any business Campaign are opening the circle for LGBTQ recruitment professionals in what often feels like a closed space, by advising recruitment businesses on the ways they can make their workspace safe and inclusive for LGBTQ staff. By sharing ideas and inclusivity strategies, we improve LGBTQ representation for people working in recruitment and hope to promote a sense of togetherness.

During this insightful event, which is part of our ongoing LGBTQ+ Recruiter Experience series, we delved into the crucial topic of "rainbow washing versus reality," with a spotlight on authentic experiences and effective strategies for LGBTQ+ recruitment. This closely aligns to our Pride committee’s 2024 mission to attract top LGBTQ+ talent. This initiative, spearheaded by our dedicated Pride committee led by Marc Lesner, reflects our commitment to ‘Unlock the power of LGBTQ+ recruiters’ fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work.

During the event, we had the privilege of diving deep into the realm of LGBTQ+ recruitment strategies, with a focus on authenticity, inclusivity, and positive impact.

Here are the highlights of what was covered;

Sharing Experiences. Seba, who works in the industry as a recruiter for Pod Talent, generously shared their invaluable perspective as an LGBTQ+ recruiter, sharing first-hand experiences of engaging with clients and allies in the field.

Exploring Effective Strategies: Our MC, Maria Cuffaro founder and CEO of Virativa, led an engaging discussion with our panellists, focusing on the strategies, governance, and policies that have proven to be effective in improving the hiring of diverse, specifically LGBTQ+ talent within organisations.

Real-Life Case Studies: Ellen Mulvey, Executive Director at Bruin Financial, shared a compelling case study illustrating a client's journey from "box ticking" to implementing a robust strategy aimed at increasing LGBTQ+ talent attraction and fostering internal inclusivity.

Building Supportive Environments: The event highlighted our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for LGBTQ+ individuals, both within our organization and for our clients. We believe that by championing diversity and inclusion, we can create a ripple effect that extends beyond our walls.
