Job description

My client are a national property developer who are looking for a pro-active Assistant Accountant to join their central finance team in London Bridge. This role will report into the Senior Financial Accountant and will be responsible for the company's bank and balance sheet reconciliation process.

The company operate a hybrid working model, with the opportunity to work two or three days from home each week. They also provide study support for your professional qualifications post probationary period and great progression prospects.


Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Ownership of bank reconciliations (weekly) and other balance sheet reconciliations (monthly/quarterly).
  • Hold regular meetings with accounts payable and accounts receivable to investigate discrepancies in bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare & upload weekly journals into, attaching appropriate supporting evidence where required.
  • Prepare reconciliation of deposits held to ensure compliance
  • Provide cash data and analysis to assist with regular cashflow forecasting.
  • Assist with implementation project of bank book reconciliation function.
  • Liaise with auditors for year-end group and subsidiary audits.
  • Liaise with tax advisors for half yearly Client Money Protection audits
  • Ad hoc tasks to assist with requests from investors, lenders and advisors.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Studying for accountancy qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Understanding of month end close process (bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, journal posting)
  • Accounts Payable background and understanding
  • Use of accounting applications for posting journals

  • Proficient use of Excel, including pivot tables and analysis formula
  • Attention to detail
  • Organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively, meeting deadlines set by line manager
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships and assert influence
