Configuration Analyst

Purpose of the role
* Support delivery of Configuration Management to provide a valued and accurate service.
* Deliver and maintain appropriate information about Configuration Items (CIs) required to deliver IT services.
* Enable the strategic framework for service improvements based on data and industry best practice.
* Support governance and coordination of the strategic, tactical and operational level for Tech Configuration Management.
* Provide a single consistent service offering and exploit the IT Service Management toolset to best commercial value and customer experience.
* To provide a point of contact for all database activities in the production and test environments.
* To provide a secure data CMS service and the ability to recovery should a service impact occur.

Working in partnership with the business to:
* Ensure the integrity of day-to-day maintenance and updates to the CMS (Configuration Management System).
* Review proposed updates and verify that CI information is complete and correct.
* Verify that any modifications are in line with Configuration Management Policies.
* Identify the CI types to be controlled and the relationships between them.
* Specify CI naming conventions, CI Owners, identifying the attributes and lifecycle stages of each CI type.
* Produce status accounting reports as appropriate, using data analytics to provide insights and trend data.
* Support audits of the information held on the CMDB.
* Investigate discrepancies between the CMDB and physical items, raising Incidents or Change requests as appropriate.
* Enforce CMS database standards, guidelines, and operational policies and procedures.
* Provide an appropriate housekeeping and maintenance regime to enable a seamless service.
* Use data analysis and insights to report on trends and identify improvement opportunities, and also support audit requirements.
* Regularly monitor, test backup and recovery strategy regime of the CMDB.
* Deliver on a number of projects, the breadth and complexity of which will vary depending on experience.
This role may require travel and working from multiple sites/locations. Willing and able to travel to participate in meetings, workshops, and other related activities

* Clear decision-making ability with the facility to judge situations and assess when to escalate issues
* Ability to work under pressure
* Identifies and contributes to the continual improvement of configuration capability across the organisation.

Experience
* Proven track record of successfully supporting a Configuration Management service
* Experience of working with Managed Service Providers and with Outsourced IT models.
* Experience of delivering change, supporting a robust and accurate service.
