Director of Software Engineering - UK

Location: UK with offices and teams dispersed through Midlands North

Salary & Benefits: to £110,000 p/a plus a range of benefits inc. holidays, great pension, bonus, share options and a variety of local benefits

Investigo have partnered with a UK based software powerhouse who are about to press the green button on growth plans for their digital capability. Our client has 7 hubs spread throughout the Midlands and North of England, growth is on the 2021 agenda and with that much growth comes someone to tie it all together. This is an opportunity to join a business who provide a service you'll have used, but never ever heard of and help them to grow the best team in digital.

Leading a 25-person team made up of Software Engineers, Automation Specialists, DevOps Engineers, etc, you will help to establish and innovate their product-based platforms. From new developments, to future roadmap and even ensuring the tech is fit for purpose and scalable; with the planned growth in 2021 the need to be able to quickly scale up is paramount. This role will work directly with the CIO and over the next 18 months start to make a transition towards taking that role full-time as this role is ear marked for CIO/CTO.

There are some chunky projects to take on, from the modernisation of a key customer platform, scaling the team up 25% and then working at solution level with the brightest minds in the business; there's multiple hats to wear.

So, what are we looking for? There's a number of desirables but the key components to being successful are:

  • A background in leading and managing digital, development/engineering teams (ideally multi location);
  • Technical know-how and a thorough understanding of software at a high/solution level;
  • Previous (or even current) hands-on experience;
  • Strong communication skills, you'll often take a non-technical idea into tech and back again;
  • Experience of contributing to longer term projects and the future product roadmap.

This is a remote role leading a dispersed remote team, you will have an allocated spot in each of their offices, it'll be up to you to determine how and when you use it.

In return you will receive a salary up to £110,000 p/a plus a range of benefits inc. holidays, great pension, bonus, share options and a variety of local benefits in and around Nottingham.
