Role Purpose and Responsibilities :
This is a new role reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer/MLRO (SMF 16/17), to manage the design and oversight of the end to end financial crime framework for a fast-paced and dynamic company. The role will also include the management of a wider team, including the financial crime surveillance team.

  • This is a new role reporting to the SMF 17 and is effectively a Deputy MLRO with full responsibility for the management, build out and oversight of the financial crime framework; given the risk profile of the business the role has a particular focus on market abuse
  • Responsibility for the oversight of the design of front line AML and MA controls and the design and operation of all second line AML and MA controls (including monitoring and surveillance)
  • Design and implementation of all financial crime policies and risk assessments, including AML, MA, Fraud, Anti-Bribery and Corruption
  • Implementation of new systems and process enhancement for second line surveillance and reporting
  • Management of financial crime surveillance and STOR/SAR reporting (with a dedicated team)
  • Compliance lead on technological improvement projects for front line systems (such as a new KYC system)
  • Provision of timely advice to KYC, client facing and client payments teams
  • Creation and presentation of management information for senior management committees, including board committees, relating to financial crime
  • Responsibility for regulatory change and implementation related to financial crime
  • Management of relationship with the FCA market conduct and market enforcement team
  • Instilling a strong culture of awareness, reporting and good market conduct within all commercial and operational teams

Experience and Skills
Essential

  • 10+ years' experience of financial crime compliance, covering both AML and Market Abuse, ideally in a sector with exposure to retail clients or relevant experience from a financial services regulator
  • High level of familiarity with UK regulation and regulatory framework, including MAR, MLR 2019 and relevant guidance, such as JMLSG
  • Ability to manage a range of senior stakeholders, working effectively with front line teams and balancing compliance and commercial objectives
  • Takes ownership of issues and drives projects or solutions to conclusion
  • Ability to work with autonomy, with proven decision making ability
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written

Desirable -

  • Working knowledge of derivatives trading and associated regulatory framework
