Job description

Are you a qualified and strategically-minded finance professional with a passion for using data-driven insights to drive performance at the highest levels? A respected public sector organisation, playing a vital role in local communities, is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join its high-performing finance function.

The Opportunity

This is a truly strategic role - embedded at the heart of a leadership team where your financial expertise will directly shape decisions that influence operational success across a broad and impactful portfolio.

You'll act as the primary financial advisor to senior leaders, guiding major decisions around restructures, investments, and transformation. You'll also contribute to strategic planning, business cases, capital and revenue forecasting, and performance monitoring. This is a rare chance to drive long-term value and ensure efficient use of public funds in a highly complex and evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise and influence executive stakeholders on all aspects of financial planning and strategy
  • Analyse, interpret, and present complex financial information to non-finance audiences
  • Provide insight and challenge to major investment decisions, restructures, and business change
  • Lead on budgeting, forecasting, and capital programme reviews
  • Collaborate with other Finance Business Partners to ensure cohesive delivery across departments
  • Develop innovative solutions to maximise value and ensure compliance with statutory and internal policies
  • Line manage and develop finance professionals, supporting performance and growth

What We're Looking For

  • CCAB-qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience
  • A proven track record in senior-level finance roles within large, complex environments (public sector experience is advantageous)
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate financial implications to senior leaders
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems and reporting tools (SAP and Business Objects desirable)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, influence with confidence, and manage competing priorities
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with the ability to present impactful reports and recommendations

Why Apply?

  • Join a forward-thinking, mission-led organisation with real societal impact
  • Operate in a highly strategic and visible role, with influence over key operational outcomes
  • Hybrid working with excellent flexibility
  • Generous benefits package and continuous CPD support

This role requires Management Vetting due to the nature of the work.
