Job description
A client of ours, an international services business and a leading player, is seeking for a Financial Accountant. Under the guidance of the Head of Financial Controls, the Financial Accountant will play a pivotal role in the preparation of UK statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with evolving accounting standards, contributing to financial reporting initiatives, and managing intricate accounting projects. As part of the UK group and reporting cluster, the successful candidate will engage collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, making a significant impact on the financial reporting processes and outcomes.
As the Financial Accountant, your key responsibilities will centre around your expertise in statutory accounting, where you will leverage your experience to prepare UK statutory accounts and disclosure notes under FRS101 for both UK group companies and SPVs. Your financial reporting skills will come to the fore as you lead initiatives, navigating tasks such as the conversion of operational management accounts to IFRS, conducting insightful analytical reviews, and ensuring the seamless maintenance of group reporting structures. Collaboration with auditors will be a critical aspect of your role, drawing on your experience to engage with auditors effectively, preparing comprehensive technical papers, and diligently documenting crucial accounting judgments. A commitment to continuous learning will be paramount, as you stay updated with the latest developments in IFRS, applying this knowledge strategically to enhance the effectiveness of financial reporting practices.
The successful candidate will be a newly qualified or a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with extensive knowledge of statutory accounts and recent changes in accounting standards, including IAS 16/IFRS 16 Lease accounting. Proven track record in conducting accounting research, collaborating with auditors, and navigating engagements with regulatory bodies. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a detail-oriented approach are essential, along with experience in complex organisational settings. We highly recommend candidates with experience from top 25 accountancy firms or relevant industry experience to apply.
