Financial Control Accountant - Financial Services - City of London - £50,000 to £60,000 plus Bonus and Benefits.

Company Overview: Highly respected Financial Services business in London, part of a wider global Investment Banking and Wealth Management group. Committed to excellence and innovation, the business is seeking an ambitious accountant to join their London Finance team. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of risk management capabilities within the Finance function and management of financial controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain robust risk management capabilities within the Finance function to ensure the company's financial stability and compliance.
  • Ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of finance controls and risk framework throughout the Group, implementing necessary enhancements as needed.
  • Adhere to and optimise finance-owned policies and procedures to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate the balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide support in setting and monitoring the Firm's Treasury Management policy to optimise cash flow and liquidity management.
  • Contribute to SOX controls and testing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hold an accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or be in the later stages of qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting, preferably within a regulated environment but open to other relevant sector experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, respond quickly to management requests, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Knowledgeable on technical accounting and business issues to provide informed insights and recommendations.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in various areas, including technical, industry-specific, and functional expertise.
  • Stay informed about technical control and control issues to anticipate and address potential risks.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate within the department and across the wider business.
  • Proactive approach, challenging the status quo, and contributing to the business's strategic plan for sustainable growth.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Methodical and organised approach to work to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
