Job description

A leading high growth Media group are currently looking to recruit a Group Financial Controller as the business looks to centralise the operations of the business. Operating across 25 countries plus and with revenue over £60m the business is experience high growth and hence this newly created role will be involved in both BAU and transformational activities.

The Group Controllership function will deliver monthly consolidated accounts and consistent FP& to the directors, and ensure appropriate controls are in place across subsidiaries.

Key responsibilities include;

Consolidated statutory and management accounts (60%)

  • Responsible for working with the regional teams to consolidate the subsidiaries for the group on a monthly basis
  • Responsible for ensuring local accounting is consistently reported and mapped to the Group chart of accounts in order to allow meaningful analysis
  • Responsible for establishing group accounting and reporting policies and ensuring their consistent application across all subsidiaries (e.g. revenue and cost recognition, foreign exchange transactions, activity-based costing etc.)
  • Responsible for delivering group management accounts to group directors and FP&A in accordance to their requirements
  • Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the group audit and preparation of the annual group statutory accounts

Finance Transformation (25%)

  • Support the roll-out of the Group financial system across subsidiaries
  • Define common best practices and processes for the use of the system
  • Training & Development on the new ways of working
  • Standardise, automate and make as efficient as possible

Shared services and internal controls (15%)

  • Contribute to the definition of the Finance shared services strategy and execute it across functions that are relevant to the Group controllership (e.g. OTC/PTP, treasury...) in order to improve value for money and quality of delivery
  • Review, improve and ensure the effective operation of internal controls across the group
  • Support the establishment of a group or shared services finance function

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skill set;

  • Qualified Accountant
  • A background in Audit, Financial Control and/or Group Finance
  • Experience dealing with the senior leadership team
  • Strong analytical capability and experience of improving processes and systems
  • Team management
  • EMEA / International or global entity experience is desirable.
