This is a key role within the Group Financial Control team, ensuring the organisation is in compliance with all technical accounting and reporting requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that accounting and external financial reporting are of the right standard for a FTSE 100 organisation. You will work closely with the board, and with senior management, to ensure they are appropriately briefed on the technical accounting environment relevant to the business.
Overarching responsibility for implementation and management of new accounting standards. This is to include detailed understanding of the standard, implementation process, disclosure preparation and communication with Board and Senior Management.
Active involvement in new projects, including any business change, to ensure implications are fully understood
Preparation and presentation of reports to senior management and to the Audit Committee on technical matters.
Lead the asset impairment review process and annual review of residual values and useful economic lives
Review statutory financial statements for compliance, oversee maintenance of group accounting manual and draft complex areas
Remain up to date with technical advancements and their business impact, and be first point of contact for technical questions business-wide
Build strong, productive relationships both internally and externally
The successful candidate will:-
Be fully qualified, preferably ACA
Have recent, extensive technical experience with exposure to SOX compliance, and IFRS 16 knowledge, beneficial
Have both strong technical knowledge and sound commercial awareness
Be able to communicate effectively at all levels including Board
