Head of Finance

A leading multinational Telecommunications business is currently seeking a new Head of Regulatory finance to support the Group Finance Director. The role will role focuses on regulatory financial impacts for the business and will play a part of the Central Finance Leadership Team, helping lead across a large team. The individual will be responsible for the personal development of three Direct Reports and the deliverables produced by the Regulatory Finance team.

You'll have the following responsibilities

• The individual will become an expert in regulatory matters and have a deep understanding of the business services and the operational units that supply them. As a result, the individual will be responsible for translating operational activity into regulatory treatment.
• You will work with the Commercial Pricing team to ensure key inputs from the RFS are calculated, analysed and used appropriately in any pricing decisions.
• Generate the financial analysis completed by the regulatory team as part of any lobbying with Ofcom (for example, cost-based charge controls)
• Producing business cases for regulatory decisions, potential regulation impacts, or points of potential or active debate and influence with the regulator.
• Ensure the Regulatory Financial Statements (RFS) are fit-for-purpose and an accurate representation of the businesses activities across the relevant period. This includes reviewing the RFS, ensure any significant year-on-year movements are justified and explainable and helping to bridge the operational understanding to the regulated statements.
• The individual will be responsible for regulatory financial analysis - providing support and producing key financial measures on the future performance of the business from a Regulatory perspective.

You'll have the following skills & experience

• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
• Fully qualified accountant / Further qualification to support specialism with significant PQE (.e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
• Experience of working in a regulatory environment at a Manager level or above is essential
• Excellent communicator of complex messages, in to clear financial and operation narratives.
• Experience of positively influencing business decisions by using data, narrative, and analysis to inform decision making.
• An ability to matrix-manage cross-business teams to delivery business outcomes
