IT Strategy and Planning Manager, Northampton, Hybrid working

A large, complex and well-known business are currently seeking to hire an IT Strategy and Planning Manager to join their technology function. This is a new role, which reports into the Head of IT Strategy and Governance, and is part of a small team. The purpose of this role is to:

• Engage and establish a partnership with business strategy teams and business relationship managers in the business to understand and share key insights to senior IT leaders so that they can understand the emerging, strategic challenges for IT
• Manage the process of strategic business planning, coordinating/influencing senior IT leaders and business teams to determine which business and technology capabilities require investment
• Manage the collation, creation and presentation of all aspects of the IT Strategy including technology, people, suppliers and governance. Maintain alignment of this with the business strategies

The role is very much about understanding demand, aligning strategy, managing relationships and stakeholders and working closely with the IT Director, technology function and broad range of business stakeholders.

The appointed candidate will bring strong experience in creating and maintaining an IT Strategy/investment portfolio through influence and collaboration. You'll have a knowledge of horizon-scanning and keeping abreast of trends and emerging tech. You'll bring good understanding of topics such as capability-based planning, portfolio management, business analysis and demand management and prioritisation. The nature of this role means that the ability to work with a range of stakeholders, communicate technical concepts in a non-technical way and present to board level stakeholders will be a crucial.
