Job description

We are a patient-focused biotechnology company developing next generation AAV-based gene therapies to treat genetically defined muscle disease. We are applying novel technology platforms that directly address the key limitations of current gene therapies, including tissue-specific delivery and gene regulation. These breakthroughs have the potential to improve efficacy and safety of gene therapy and enable the pursuit of a broader set of genetically validated targets that are otherwise difficult to drug with current AAV technologies.

Position Summary: We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated and independent Lab Assistant to join our team to help expand our discovery research efforts and advance our lead assets into the clinic. Position title will be commensurate with experience. This laboratory-based position will collaborate within a highly matrixed organization of drug discovery leads, in vivo pharmacologists and other scientists and/or CROs to advance our discovery pipeline. Key responsibilities will focus on assisting Scientists on daily execution of lab duties. As we are a start-up company, this position has tremendous room for growth and opportunities across multiple areas in addition to collaborative opportunities with external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize and inventory all common stock lab supplies.
  • Work with Purchasing Agent to maintain inventory stock levels of consumables, critical reagents, and supplies essential to the operation of the laboratory. Maintain accurate inventory of lab supplies.
  • Work with Lab Manager and EHS consultants to manage liquid and solid waste pickups and proper storage of chemical and biohazard waste.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with both internal personnel and external vendors.
  • Receive packages and enter received packing slips on the purchasing software.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Organize and maintain, as needed, filing system of all hard copy materials related to lab supplies and equipment.
  • Preparation of common reagents/solutions, buffers, and media.
  • Wash and sterilize lab ware.
  • Maintain overall cleanliness in areas of responsibility.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associates degree in the life sciences is a plus, but candidates with diploma and ~2+ years of in-lab experience accepted. Prior industry experience is a plus.
  • A multi-tasker and problem solver with strong verbal and written communication skills, and a team-first mindset. Personable and articulate.
  • Basic computer skills to include Word, Excel, Ability to multitask; individual initiative; independent thought; ability to work in collaborative teams
  • The candidate must be reliable, possess excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Prior evidence of working in a team-based interdisciplinary environment.
