Job description
Payroll Team Leader - Leicester - £28,000 ( potentially up to £30k)
- Assist with supervision of 3 Payroll Assistants
- Ensure that the team will meet all deadlines for the payroll
- First point of contact for the team's escalated queries
- Assist in control of the Payroll mailbox, ensuring all incoming information is recorded and distributed amongst the team for processing as appropriate
- Weekly upload of all information from HMRC including Tax Codes, Student Loans and RTI advices
- Oversee monthly payroll input by the team in its entirety, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Monitor progress and ensure there is an even distribution of workload throughout the month
- Check monthly payroll input prior to deadline
- Run Errors and Warnings, Payroll Summary and BACS files. Complete Gross to Net analysis.
- Assist in month end reporting process to the business and any and all 3rd Party's
- Assist in year-end process
- Assist in project work
- Review Payroll and Benefits pages on payroll homepage of Intranet, update and amend regularly
- Keep up to date with legislation changes
- Assist in training and development of the Payrolls team
- Monitor sickness absences for long term or frequent absentees, where medical certificates are required and against company sick pay entitlements
- Make salary adjustments for employees exceeding entitlements
- Monitor holiday entitlements mid-year and at the end of the holiday year for potential deductions. Assist with Self-Service queries and buy and sell offers
Profile
- Previous experience preferably in a similar payroll environment and with proven supervisory level skills
- A background working in a SSC environment will be desirable
- Have experience of creating and submitting BACS payment files, be able to complete manual calculations and make emergency payments
- Have excellent communication skills, both on the telephone, via e-mail and letter
- Be organised, flexible, adaptable and somebody who can work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
