Job description

Purpose of the Role:

  • To work closely with the Head of Cultural Development to hold and develop the vision for programming, audience development and overall operations of the Dugdale Centre as the central hub for cultural activity in Enfield, celebrating everything that is Made In Enfield and providing creative opportunity for all residents
  • To provide a dynamic year-round programme of performances, workshops and events that balances cultural, community and commercial imperatives, supporting and growing local creativity and bringing in external content to inspire and delight
  • To work inclusively to grow the Centre's audience and impact
  • To maximise revenues through high quality marketing, strong partnerships, and a great all-round customer offer
  • To manage the Programme Administrator, Technical Supervisor, Marketing, Audience and Business Development Officer and Dugdale Operations Supervisor
  • To ensure smooth operation of the venue through general oversight and managing collaboration between operations, EnFood and museum staff
  • To support the delivery of the culture strategy, "Culture Connects"

Key Accountability:

1. Management of the overall Dugdale customer experience, including coordinating internal teams

2. Programming a range of weekly day-time and evening activities, from family workshops to touring theatre, that are relevant to the people of Enfield, support the local creative network and provide creative excitement and inspiration

3. Financial management, providing regular reports to Head of Cultural Development, finance and line managees to ensure the centre is well-managed within budget

4. Driving forward the Centre's business and audience development plans, monitoring and adapting activity (ie events and marketing) to meet cultural and commercial objectives

5. Proactively working to improve the visitor experience through setting high standards of customer service, designing new creative opportunities, maintaining a beautiful and welcoming look and feel

6. Line management of the Dugdale Operations Supervisor, Marketing, Audience and Business Development Officer, Programme Administrator and Technical Supervisor

7. Ensuring that the Centre operates in accordance with all regulations and best practice standards

8. Being an ambassador for the Dugdale Centre and for Culture in Enfield, attending and introducing events, forming, supporting and participating in creative and cultural networks

9. Participating in a range of Council and external programmes and initiatives that support Culture Connects, providing expertise and resource as appropriate

10. Any other duties reasonably requested by management

11. Carry out all accountability in compliance with the Council's Policies and Procedures

Essential:

  1. Experience of leading the programming for a cultural venue, including live performance and at least one other cultural form / medium, showing a great mix of creativity, responsiveness, artistic vision and community focus
  2. Demonstrable track record of delivering to an audience development and/or business plan and how this can be achieved through research, partnerships, programming and marketing

3.Strong understanding of safe and successful venue operation, from managing customer flows to ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations

  1. Leadership quality, able to hold and project a vision and bring together a multi-disciplinary team around shared goals and objectives, nurturing and managing staff
  2. Relationship management, including managing and supporting a varied team and building connections with creative and strategic partners across the borough
  3. Awareness of the role of cultural activity in supporting people and places to thrive, with a passion for delivering this for Enfield
  4. Financial management, with experience of managing complex budgets

Desirable:

  1. Communications or marketing expertise, including social media
  2. Track record of developing revenue in a cultural context
