SAC Planning Development
Senior Manager
£95,000 - £120,000 + Package
Location - Bristol, Manchester, Birmingham


Why this role matters


The Group Finance COE is a new function within the Finance that is being established to help the Finance community maximise the value that we gain from our investment in SAP. This new function will lead the design, development and support of standardised SAC templates and planning models that enable best in class planning capabilities across the Finance organisation.

This important new role is both strategic and technical in nature and will lead the team focused on building new, standardised planning templates and models, and rationalising our legacy planning landscape

You will be responsible for:
* Leading the SAC Planning Development team in the design, development and support of standardised SAC planning templates and models that support our strategic planning processes
  • Designing and driving a Planning Development strategy and roadmap to establish best in class SAP planning capabilities that put the right templates and models in the hands of the right people at the right time


You are:
  • An experienced leader of SAC planning model development or support in a large organisation, with a strong track record of delivering high quality planning templates and models

* A commercially astute SAP advocate, comfortable discussing the commercial impact and return on investment of developing best in class SAP planning capabilities
* A technical specialist, who leverages their skills and experience to build the right planning templates and models to support efficient and effective planning processes


What you'll be doing

  • Leadership of the SAC Planning Development function, growing and motivating the team, setting direction and pace, and establishing standards and principles for delivery and engagement
  • Leading the design, development and support of SAC planning templates and models that improve the level of planning capability across Finance
  • Being a vocal advocate for SAP planning capability development and the value-add that can be achieved from an efficient and effective system-based planning approach
  • Implementing best in class development practises to deliver flexible and versatile solutions
  • Managing planning capability development projects, reporting on progress, risks and issue resolution
  • Working closely with Group and Unit Planning teams to ensure development of appropriate planning templates and models that improve planning capability across Finance
  • Effectively managing stakeholder relationships across Finance and Technology to support Planning Development team objectives
  • Establishing robust checking and validation processes for planning capability development with a zero-tolerance approach to technical error
  • Building a high-performing team culture focused on quality and pace of delivery, recruiting top talent into open vacancies and developing individual team members
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of current performance trends across in order to ensure planning capability developments support key commercial challenges


The skills & experience you need

  • Finance qualification (ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Strong hands-on technical skills background (particularly SAC & BPC) to enable clear direction and effective evaluation of SAP planning capability design and development
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, able to act swiftly and decisively with confidence
  • Experience leading and growing an SAP planning development or support function within a large organisation
  • Expert understanding of planning capability development best practice
  • Brilliant stakeholder management and relationship building skills. Adept at interacting with senior executives and adapting style to different audiences
  • Experienced in setting and driving planning capability strategy from the short to long term, and selling this in to key stakeholders to secure approval for delivery
  • Strong presentation skills, in particular the ability to interpret and summarise complex technical proposals and solutions for non-technical and senior executive audiences
  • Strong attention to detail with a zero-tolerance approach to technical error
  • Solution driven, innovative, pace-setting and focused on commercial impact
