SAP Senior Developer

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The purpose of the SAP Senior Developer is to lead the delivery of SAP Application Services through an excellent understanding of business process, industry standard utilisation of SAP functionality and detailed knowledge of SAP development/integration technologies.

The SAP Senior Developer will provide analytical and technical skills, configuration expertise and business knowledge to support a wide range of business objectives and initiatives. The role has a diverse functional scope across the Group but the individual may specialise in one or more functional areas.

If required, they will provide 24/7 cover as part of a development team standby rota, and may be expected to help Operations with 3rd line support activities in standard working hours if necessary.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, SPECIFIC FOR ROLE:

· Designing, developing, testing, maintaining and supporting (3rd Line) bespoke SAP solutions, and associated integration, in line with the IT Programme of work.

· Ensure SAP Application Services or business processes are aligned with industry best practice or best practice;

· Undertake the role of Project Technical Lead for SAP Projects, being accountable for:

o The overall technical solution for the defined business requirements, ensuring adherence to the architectural principles and standards, and the use of existing patterns.

o Exploitation of existing platform/application investments, such as cloud services, mobile platforms, integration platforms, UI portals, and reporting platforms, to deliver a rationalised and consistent end-to-end solution.

o All non-functional requirements clearly accounted for in the technical solution.

o Technical implementation of the solution and handover to operations.

· Perform a senior developer role on technology projects delivering SAP functionality, being accountable for;

o Identifying technical tasks and providing realistic estimates.

o Operating in the agreed development methodology.

o Adhering to IT process throughout the project delivery lifecycle.

o Creating high quality detailed technical designs to support overall technical solution, ensuring non-functional requirements are catered for.

o Adhering to all approved technical standards.

o Delivering SAP Application Services that are:

· Contribute to Contingency and Security planning aligned with the Business continuity plans.

· Influence and adhere to the Quality management and change control procedures within the team.

· Provide guidance, coaching and support to other members of Software Engineering and IT Support and Operations.

· Keep abreast of changes within the SAP technologies, influencing the exploitation of existing, emerging and new technologies to meet business objectives.

· Ability to work with SAP Solution Architect and the SAP Platform Architect.

· If required, provide support within a 24/7 application standby rota to meet service SLAs.

Essential:

· Experience of leading SAP technical solutions through application development and process chain services, with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets in one or more of the following business areas;

o Operational services,

o SAP ABAP

o Capital project and programme planning,

o Business planning and consolidation,

o Financial and other back office services

o Payroll and HR

o Business Objects

o Procurement

· Detailed knowledge of further development standards in one or more of the following SAP core technologies;

o Advanced ABAP development language

o FIORI

o UI5

o SAP Smartforms

o SAP NetWeaver

o SAP / Adobe Forms integrations

o Advanced Workflow (ALE, RFC, BAPIs)

o Business Objects

· Knowledge of the SAP Platform Technical Roadmap

· Knowledge and understanding of one or more of SAP's line of business roadmap's

· Knowledge of SAP support procedures including escalation and resolution;

· Aware of SAP technical options and ability to recommend the optimal solution;

· Ability to assist in the definition and implementation of technical quality standards and procedures for SAP and ensure compliance within the team
