SAP Functional Manager

£65,000 + Benefits

Purpose of the Job

To provide team leadership and line management of SAP functional team within the UK & Ireland IS&T HR & Finance team, performing process and data analysis, design, and testing of core modules of SAP ERP Central Component (ECC).

  • To ensure that the UK & Ireland SAP solutions are maintained and supported in line with standards. This includes third-line issue management, scheduling of jobs, maintenance of key data elements and interfaces to other systems.
  • Ensures delivery of SAP system changes and enhancements as per business needs, to expected timescales and standard
  • To liaise with the business systems owners, third-party software providers and IS&T teams to ensure quality solutions are provided in line with strategies and capabilities

Context and main issues

Work alongside SAP Technical and Development Manager to provide holistic delivery of service across SAP platform

  • Works alongside AMS leadership peers to
  • Leads delivery of team based on the SLA and identifies and addresses any areas of concern in outputs
  • Current footprint is FI/CO, BW, GRC, PO, HCM, SD, MM
  • Expected to adhere to Information Security Policy

Main Assignments

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of internal SAP Functional Consultants
  • Holistic involvement in service delivery lifecycle - receive and manage demand from the business; understand and confirm requirements; allocate and prioritise across team; ensure delivery to expected quality and timescales
  • Ensure output delivery from Third Party Suppliers to agreed timescales and as per service level agreement
  • Identify and manage gaps in knowledge of SAP application, ensuring use of third party provider and development of internal staff where appropriate to futureproof delivery of service to expectant quality
  • Provide empirical and proven knowledge in MM and SD modules in particular to enhance service offering of product to meet business needs
  • Represent SAP Functional space in multiple networks; AMS Leadership; Finance and HR functions; Global SAP Community

Accountabilities:

  • Management and leadership of teams within the SAP function within IS&T for the UK and Ireland
  • Manages day-to-day deliverables of team on demand
  • Allocation of work tasks across team members
  • Ensure the timely resolution of system errors and support calls.
  • Facilitate ad-hoc data requests and report requests (run and fix)
  • Support delivery of SAP-related projects alongside project management resource
  • Provide evidence for compliance reporting and audits.
  • Assist in the gathering of business requirements (functional and non-functional) through workshops and analysis
  • Ensure technical skills and specialisations of team are kept up to date in line with industry developments
  • Support and encourage team in ownership of personal and professional development, through coaching, training and feedback
  • Use experience to make informed decisions on selection and execution of all technical approaches across a wide field, either in a management or advisory capacity
  • Work under own initiative to deliver to customer expectations

Personal Specification

  • 5+ years' experience of full implementation SAP lifecycles; deploying, managing and enhancing SAP systems, specifically SAP FI CO & HCM
  • 5+ years' experience in managing specific SAP system support activity

Demonstrable experience in SAP MM, SD, FI, CO & HCM modules

  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organisation including experience of communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience of managing relationships with third-party software providers
  • Involvement in SAP integrations with third party software
