Job description

SAP Procurment Lead
S4/Hana & Ariba
12 Month FTC - £70,000

About the Job:
This is a significant role with two strong focus areas. The first is to lead an existing Procurement team through a redesign of how procurement functions and works for the company and its stakeholders. The second is to then translate that design into an SAP ERP implementation. As the leader of Procurement for the company, this is a high-profile role requiring depth of knowledge, strategic understanding, highly tuned leadership skills, and the ability to drive change.
You will be responsible for both an existing team and for the recruitment and leadership of a specialist ERP implementation team.

You will report to the Programme Director and to the Director of Policy, Partnership and Governance and be directly sponsored by the most senior managers for the company itself. This is a role that enables you to create the strategy, shape and implement through the full lifecycle. In other words, create the story, tell the story, and ensure that all relevant parties join the journey.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an existing and significant team of Procurement staff and, recruit and lead a project team for SAP ERP implementation.
  • Consult across the organisation to develop and implement a new operating model for the team, create a strategy for future-state Procurement as well as improving the performance of the current service offering.
  • Drive change across the function and agree those changes with associated functional areas such as Finance, Legal and our service areas.
  • Ensure changes are communicated and that learning is assured for all Procurement stakeholders.
  • Reduce inefficiencies, artificial boundaries and enhance the offering to the companies services.
  • Create KPI's and SLA's in line with the organisation's needs and with the Procurement strategy.
  • Provide internal Procurement consultancy to senior stakeholders and be a highly visible member of the senior management team.
  • Translate the new "to be" strategy into SAP S/4 HANNA.

For the SAP S/4 HANNA implementation, and together with your team:

  • Assure the design solution, its integrity and functionality against the Procurement strategy and in alignment with other programme workstreams.
  • Together with IT colleagues, ensure that the system architecture meets the requirements of the organisation.
  • Create the roadmap for current and future potential iterations for the ERP.
  • Ensure that the ERP build and supporting services are fit for purpose, supportable and match agreed specifications.
  • Work closely with the Programme Director, Project Manager and other workstream leads to ensure a joined-up and connected system.
  • Manage all deliverables throughout the ERP lifecycle for Procurement and including requirements, gap analysis, migration, user roles/authorisation, documentation, risk, data migration and testing.
  • Play a key role in change management through working actively on impacts, training, organisational design and communications.
  • Operate as part of the senior management team for the ERP implementation.

The ideal candidate will have...
Experience

  • Experience of leading Procurement change within a complex environment.
  • Experience of designing a Procurement strategy and through to its full implementation.
  • Experience of implementing an ERP system through the full cycle either in a Procurement or Finance workstream.
  • Experience of implementing Ariba would be great but is not essential.
  • Developing team members for enhanced effectiveness and for future career paths.

Knowledge, Skills and Understanding

  • Lead and manage a team of professionals.
  • Thorough understanding of procurement legislation and regulations within a public sector context.
  • Must have in depth SAP Procurement (S/4Hana and Ariba) design, configuration and support expertise and have good functional experience in S/4Hana and Ariba integration.
  • Fully understands integration between SAP modules and the end-to-end Procurement impacts within modules.
  • Able to architect Procurement solutions in line with best practices based on GCC's service requirements.
  • An understanding of the ERP project cycle, the approach and the relevant documentation.
