Senior MS Exchange / Messaging Engineer - Lead - Office 365 - Azure

My client a leading financial organisation is currently looking for a Senior MS Exchange /Messaging Engineer to perform the management, maintenance and operation of their Windows Infrastructure with special focus being on their Messaging infrastructure, Microsoft 365 and Azure tenancy.

The candidate must have excellent Exchange/Messaging skills in addition to a track record of maintaining complex environments from an operational perspective.

Proven experience in Exchange and 3rd party mail provider (preferably ProofPoint or Mimecast) essential as is supporting mixed Exchange environments.

An excellent working knowledge of Windows operating systems from 2008 through to 2019 is a must, as is a good understanding of 2019 Active Directory.

You will need good oral and written communications skills, i.e. documenting operational processes and System builds.

The work also involves providing 3rd line support and assistance to IT Operations team in London, IT support staff in remote sites and the opportunity to participate in project-based infrastructure architecture design with the Engineering team.

Technical skills

  • Active Directory - Enterprise Administration, Forest Upgrades, OUs, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, Cross-site Replication
  • Azure - Experience in configuring and managing AAD Connect, Using Azure for SSO/SAML, MFA, Conditional Access Policies
  • Microsoft 365 - Experience of managing tenant and licensing/provisioning including administration of Teams and Sharepoint online
  • Exchange online and Exchange on-premise experience and compliance best practice knowledge regarding email retention/journaling.
  • Email gateway - Experience of managing 3rd party email gateway (ProofPoint/Mimecast) etc…
  • Privileged Account management
  • Working knowledge of Citrix Administration

Qualifications & Experience

  • A proven track record of implementing, managing and maintaining messaging environments
  • Migrations from Exchange on-premise to Exchange Online including mailbox migrations, public folder replication, recipient policy transfers and co-existence
  • Extensive experience in administering and supporting Microsoft 365 environment and Azure tenancy
  • Good working knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, Trust Relationships, domain functional level upgrades and High Availability technologies
  • Nice to have: Quest TPAM

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining their O365/Azure/Active Directory environment from operational perspective.
  • Administration, and subsequent upgrade and decommission of Domain controllers, Exchange servers, and Azure Tenants
  • Administration of Azure/O365 security policies to ensure access to O365/Azure resources provided in secure manner & best security practices adhered to.
  • Administration and maintenance of the ProofPoint email perimeter and security/threat detections.
  • Troubleshooting: Exchange connectivity issues, performance, HT rules, send and receive connectors, mail routing, etc.
  • Troubleshooting: Active Directory, Azure, O365, DNS and TCP/IP connectivity issues.
  • Provide expert support as required of Microsoft server infrastructure globally.
