Job description

A Government client are seeking a Strategic Delivery Partner on an initial 6 month contract. You will be responsible for managing the Deputy Directors day to day business. The ideal candidate will have the confidence and ability to ensure that the Deputy Director is provided with the right information to drive forward their and their Senior Leadership teams programme of work. You will be able to communicate out the Deputy Directors intent and direction to their teams, the wider programme including wider Government.

This role will give you great exposure to the work of the programme and you will be integral to enabling the successful transition of our current workforce and programme of work into a new service. Communications and interpersonal skills will be critical, as the post-holder will play an important role liaising with internal and external organisations, commissioning briefings and supporting delivery across a range of policy areas and portfolios.

The work we do is significant, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in a number of areas from operations, strategy, policy formulation, major programme delivery, budget and commercial transactions.

While home working in the role is supported, the successful candidate will be required to work from our main building in London for around two to three days a week.

Responsibilities
We are looking for a highly organised individual with excellent prioritisation skills and a key eye for detail. You should be an excellent communicator as the post will require senior level briefings; proactive and flexible managing demanding workloads and competing priorities. You will be confident to challenge senior leaders; and be their critical friend. You will ask the "why's" and the "whats" to rapidly interpret and understand the Deputy Directors intent and decisions, with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly across a complex stakeholder community and ensure that teams/partners are delivering the right outcomes. You will work on various tasks assigned by the Deputy Director and their SLT to drive forward their portfolios within the current department and working across Whitehall to take forward the Governments objectives, ensuring strategic alignment and brokering resolutions where there are differing perspectives, with a view to improving cross-programme delivery.
This is a varied and demanding role, drawing on a range of skills, and it is essential that the post-holder is flexible and able to manage their time efficiently. The successful candidate will require:

* Strong communication skills including experience of dealing with a range of internal and external stakeholders at different seniority levels.
* Excellent organisational skills
* Ability to prioritise conflicting demands and manage your time effectively to meet competing deadlines.
* Initiative and resilience to work around problems.
* An aptitude for stakeholder management as you will need to work closely with senior officials internal and external to the Department.
* Be someone who is discreet and diplomatic with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion.

The high tempo working environment, combined with exposure to senior officials and wide variety of work on offer will provide the successful applicant with a huge range of opportunities to support personal development.
