Transactional (AP & AR) Manager - Bedford/Hybrid - Up to £45,000

A leading organisation based in Bedford is seeking a Transactional (AP & AR) Finance Manager, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to oversee transactional processes and contribute to the efficiency and accuracy of financial operations.

Transactional (AP & AR) Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a small to medium-sized team of finance professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and employee development.
  • Oversee the AP process, including invoice processing, payment approvals, vendor reconciliations, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
  • Manage the AR function, including customer billing, credit control, cash application, and resolution of customer queries and disputes.
  • Continuously review and streamline AP and AR processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor the performance of the AP and AR functions, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of AP and AR transactions, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and providing relevant financial information for management reporting purposes.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors and customers, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, company policies, and internal controls related to AP and AR activities, mitigating risks and safeguarding the organisation's financial interests.

Requirements:

  • Will be Part Qualified or Qualified by Experience.
  • Proven experience in leading a small to medium-sized team in a transactional finance role.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on process optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial transactions.
