Project Overview:

A project is currently underway to decommission all servers running Windows Server 2012 and migrate applications/services over to new servers running Windows Server 2019.

Overall Objective of Role:

Responsible for provision and commissioning of new Windows Server 2019 VMs for handover to application/service owners, as well as decommission of Windows Server 2012 VMs that have been replaced and are now redundant.

Main Responsibilities:

• Creation of new vanilla build VMs within the Nutanix server hosting platform and installation of Windows Server 2019
• Configuration of infrastructure service integration with new VMs e.g. McAfee AV, SCCM, Mutiny monitoring, Devolutions RDP
• Configuration of drive/storage allocations
• Provision of access to servers for admin resource and service accounts
• Liaising with Network Security team to implement required Checkpoint Firewall configuration and MWG configuration.
• Installation of pre requisite software on newly provisioned VMs prior to handover to application/service owners, including relevant certificates
• Recording of server build information for each server built on build document templates
• Supporting the migration of new Windows Server 2019 VMs into production
• Decommission and deletion of redundant Windows Server 2012 VMs once the replacement Server 2019s are promoted into production use.
• Removal of any configuration associated with decommissioned servers within infrastructure systems e.g. Active Directory, Mutiny monitoring

Person Specification:

Technical skills - Essential

• Detailed working knowledge of a broad range of Infrastructure Technologies;
• Server Virtualisation preferably VMware
• Citrix technologies specifically XenApp 7.15 or greater
• Excellent understanding of current Windows Server and Desktop operating systems and Group Policy/Active Directory
• SCCM use and administration
• McAfee Anti-Virus use and administration

Technical skills - Desirable

• MS SQL 2012 / 2014
• Nutanix use and administration
• Ivanti use and administration

Educational background or qualifications (if relevant)

• Technical certification in at least 2 of these areas: VMWare, Cisco, Microsoft,
• ITIL Foundation or equivalent experience, particularly of Service Operation and Service Transition
