Job description

Digital Transformation Manager

An established, innovative, business is currently seeking to recruit a Digital Transformation Manager as they embark on the early stages of an exciting 5 year journey of investment and change. This will be an evolution covering people, processes and technology, strategically designed to modernise the operations to gain maximum return from their strong market position and products. The Digital Transformation Manager is a new role, reporting to the CFO, which has been created to ensure that the strategy is driven forwards.

The Digital Transformation Manager will focus on 3 key facets:

  • Ownership of all transformation projects, including all change management activity. Currently the project delivery capability is immature so this role will be responsible for the implementation of a project methodology and associated governance.
  • 3rd Party Management. Working with vendors and implementation partners to ensure the business receives quality, cost effective service.
  • Input into, and promotion of the group digital strategy. Working with the exec and business leaders to ensure that the digital agenda is progressing and fully understood. The group has not historically looked to technology to underpin business improvements so this will require strong stakeholder leadership.

Programmes of change will include - creation of a platform to ease the bolt-on of future acquisitions, systems implementations including ERP, and a drive towards creating a more data led, analytical business culture. The Digital Transformation Manager will also be required to identify future change initiatives to further transform the Group, whilst keeping abreast of trends and developments within the sector.

The appointed candidate will bring previous experience of delivering a digital transformation that has included technology and business change and transformation, ideally with experience of implementing an ERP solution. You'll have the ability to establish and embed fit for purpose project management methodologies, tools and templates that are suited to the needs of the business, combined with hands-on project and programme delivery experience. You'll have the ability to work with Board level stakeholders to take ideas from inception and create clear and structured business cases to demonstrate the value future changes will bring, combined with the ability to work cross-functionally, galvanising teams from across the business to ensure effective delivery and adoption of change. Great communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally as well as the ability to engage and manage third parties will be essential to achieving success.

It's important to note that the business currently has c. 500 employees and whilst this is a senior and strategic role, the role requires the ability to operate at all levels - you'll be working with Board level stakeholders, whilst also retaining hands-on delivery responsibilities, rather than managing delivery through a large team. With this in mind, it's likely that you'll either have previous experience of working in a similar sized business or SME environment, or a real appreciation of the challenges and opportunity transitioning from a larger scale business to a smaller business.
