Location: Hemel Hempstead (Hybrid working available)

Contract Type: Permanent
About the Opportunity
We are exclusively representing an ambitious and rapidly expanding retail business based in Hemel Hempstead who are at a pivotal moment in their growth journey. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to join a business with genuine scale and a clearly defined strategic growth plan that will create exceptional progression opportunities for the right person.
Why This Business?
This isn't just another retail finance role. You'll be joining an organisation that has reached the perfect inflection point - established enough to offer stability and resources, yet growth-focused enough to provide genuine career acceleration. Their strategic expansion plans mean this Finance Manager role today could quickly evolve into something significantly more senior as the business scales.
The exciting part? You'll be part of the engine room driving this growth, not just reporting on it.
The Role
As Finance Manager, you'll play a critical role in both delivering insightful financial analysis and leading a high-performing team. This is a hands-on leadership position that combines strategic thinking with people management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and developing a team of 3 analysts, building their technical and commercial capabilities
- Providing strategic financial insight to support business decision-making and growth initiatives
- Creating compelling financial narratives through advanced data visualisation
- Business partnering with commercial stakeholders across the retail operation
- Driving process improvements and building scalable finance capabilities for growth
- Supporting the wider finance leadership team with ad-hoc projects and analysis
A Critical Requirement - Data Visualisation: Elite data visualisation skills are essential for this role. You'll be expected to transform complex financial data into clear, impactful visual insights using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms. The ability to tell a story through data is what will set you apart.
What You'll Bring
Essential:
- Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Proven experience at either:
- Second-time mover from practice into industry, OR
- Finance Business Partner or Senior Analyst level from a large corporate environment, OR
- Finance Manager level looking for a business with genuine growth trajectory
- Advanced data visualisation skills - you can create dashboards and presentations that drive decisions
- Experience managing and developing finance professionals
- Strong commercial acumen and business partnering credentials
- Retail sector experience (desirable but not essential for the right candidate)
What's On Offer
- Competitive salary: £70,000 - £75,000
- Performance-related bonus
- Hybrid working arrangement
- Comprehensive benefits package
- Genuine progression opportunities: As the business grows, so will your role - this is a platform for ambitious finance professionals
- Strategic involvement: Shape the financial infrastructure of a scaling business
- Supportive leadership: Work with a finance team that values development and innovation
Why Now?
The timing of this opportunity is crucial. Join now and you'll be instrumental in building the financial capabilities needed to support aggressive growth plans. You won't be maintaining the status quo - you'll be creating the future finance function for a business that's going places.
For candidates with the right blend of technical excellence (particularly in data visualisation), people leadership, and commercial insight, this role offers a genuine career accelerator in a business that's actively creating senior opportunities as it scales.
The Ideal Candidate Journey
- From Big 4? This is your chance to take a meaningful step up in industry with people management responsibilities and strategic exposure
- From large corporate? Escape the constraints of slow-moving organisations and join a business where your impact is visible and progression is merit-based
- Current Finance Manager? Trade your plateaued role for one with a clear upward trajectory
